Tom Fox, a regular donor of used books to Friends of the Folsom Library, compiled his unneeded books one day as was his custom, and generously donated them at the BOOKtique. Later he had second thoughts about one of his titles and returned to the BOOKtique to buy it back. It was in the course of this transaction that the unexpected happened. Instead of receiving change after his purchase, Tom decided to purchase a raffle ticket. In his mind, it was all about supporting the new library which benefits his family and “is quite a beautiful change from the old library”. His fate was set! His good deed led to the surprise of his life. “We’ve never won anything,” says his wife Terri, “We’d always wanted a quilt, but had never stopped to buy one. We are really enjoying it a lot.” The Foxes are impressed with the BOOKtique that is so nice and clean, and are very appreciative of the helpful staff. They are especially thankful for the gentle nudging of Nellie Loo who suggested that Tom purchase the raffle ticket. Pictured below are Tom and Cameron Fox holding the beautiful quilt that was donated by Friends of the Folsom Library Past-President Vernon Galliart. This heirloom quilt was made by Vernon’s mother Clara Elizabeth Galliart who passed away in 2004. Her quilts (hand made with love) can be found around the globe; Kansas, California and even Africa. Congratulations to the Fox family. You truly have a unique quilt - enjoy.

Susan Douglass ________ Friends Donates $80,000 to the New Library
The 13th July City Council meeting was an exciting one for our Folsom Friends organization. President Gail Kipp, Bill Cobb and Nellie Loo were present when President Gail Kipp held up the oversized check, and presented the "real" signed check for $80,000.00 as the Friends donation to the funding for the new state of the art security system being installed in the Georgia Murray Library building. This was a proud moment for all of us. It is a part of the long time DREAM come true. THANKS TO YOU ALL!
Thank you for your support!
